Question: Do I really need a flat sheet under my duvet?
Answer: If you’ve ever traveled in Europe — where standard bedding includes a fitted sheet and a luxe duvet — you’ve likely questioned whether a flat sheet is really, truly necessary. On one hand, eliminating that layer altogether is one less item to buy and wash. Plus, making the bed is reduced to one quick shake of the duvet. On the other hand? Sweat and oil. “The duvet is something you want to last, and any sort of barrier you have between your body and that duvet cover helps prolong its life,” Corpora points out.

Question: Why are hotel beds so freaking comfortable?!
Answer: “For one, hotel mattresses are changed more frequently than the mattresses we have in our homes, so they offer better support,” says Schecter, who recommends replacing your primary mattress every seven to 10 years. (Guest beds, of course, have a longer shelf life.) Another huge factor? Size. “We equate hotel beds with the ability to really spread out and lounge,” Corpora says. When it comes time to buy a new mattress, opt for the largest size that’s practical in your space. “I used to say hotel beds were so much more comfortable — until I got a king-sized memory foam mattress,” she admits. “But aside from quality and size, at a hotel, all the bedding is always crisp. Ironing your pillowcases, sheets and duvets will make a noticeable difference. But who has time for that?”

Question: Should I have separate bedding for summer and winter?
Answer: We have separate wardrobes for each season, so on the surface, it makes sense that sheets should follow suit. “But your room temperature is mostly constant year-round,” Schecter says. “Maybe you turn the heat up a little in the wintertime, but that doesn’t really have an effect on your bedclothes.”

Question: How can I make my bedding last longer?
Answer: Unfortunately, other than regular care and maintenance, there’s no magic bullet. Sheets and pillowcases should be laundered on hot and dried weekly, duvet covers a few times through the year; have your down-comforter dry cleaned once or twice a year. If weekly washing seems excessive, consider this: “A pint of our moisture goes through our sheets into our mattress every month,” Schecter says. Regular signs of wear and tear — pilling, rips, thinning — will indicate when it’s time to replace your sheets, but as a general rule, Schecter says properly cared-for high-quality sheets should last between five and 10 years.

Question: Any trends in sheets we should know about?
Answer: “Whatever you see that’s trending in fashion,” Corpora says, “you’ll see that translated to home decor soon enough.” But loud runway looks don’t exactly conjure up a calming bedroom. A recent winner? “Mixing subtle patterns has been increasingly popular,” she adds. Pick out two sheet sets you love with coordinating patterns. You could go bold or dramatic, if you’re into that; or, if you still want a serene environment, pale patterns typically read as neutrals. Mix the patterns by using one fitted sheet with the other flat sheet, and when you make the bed, fold the duvet and the flat sheet back a bit for a peek-a-boo effect. “Again, you want to make sure those colors appear elsewhere in the room for a cohesive feel,” Corpora advises.

Question: What's the firm rating of the mattress ?
Answer: I just corresponded with Zinus about this mattress and another model of their mattresses and this is their reply: "Thank you for your message. We scale our mattresses from 1-10. 1 being the firmest and 10 being the softest. Our ultima comfort 12" Mattress is scaled at a 6 (Medium) and our 12" Green Tea Memory foam mattress is scaled at a 9 (Very Plush). They have different High density base layers. The ultima comfort has a solid high density base layer which makes the mattress firmer and the Green Tea has convoluted High Density Base layer which causes it to be much softer. Our Ultima Comfort has Pressure relief memory foam that is clinically proven to assist in a better night sleep. The Green Tea mattress has green tea extract in the memory foam to help combat order build ups within the mattress." Therefore, expect this mattress to be very soft/plush.

Question: How is the edge support on this mattress?
Answer: I have never owned a different memory foam mattress before, but this one has good edge support as far as I can tell. We have slept on it for about 3 months and I am frequently forced to the edge of the bed when the kids climb in on Saturday mornings. I'm a big dude and it has always supported me right on the edge.
Well, This memory foam requires flat slates or flat board on and so overall comfort throughout the bed will remain as intact. I did not see any problem with edge support on this mattress. However, if I sit on the corner tip two days ago on my bottom, I will slide down quickly and not much support to sit on the corner. I think that is normal. I have seen people using edge of mattress as sitting area to do computer or put close to their desks as a sitting chair, but this mattress is not designed for those types of activities. Support on this mattress is throughout from edge to the center and from center to edge and there is no isuses as far as my son's sleeping expereince. If a person's body tends to go to edge, support is still there and you will be surprised how comfortable. If you are buying a young child ( less than 12), make sure that they don't jump on the edge area. I mean, we don't want to encouarge kids on their bed anyhow...:) I hope this response helps.

Question: Not sure which to select. 10 or 12 inch. Some say it is soft some say firm. Ideas and suggestions?
Answer: This 12" memory foam mattress is rated a medium-plush in firmness rating. Generally, the thicker the mattress, the more plush/soft the mattress will be. The 8" is designed for back sleepers. The 10-12" is designed for back/side sleepers. The 13" is designed for all around sleeping, including on the stomach.
Answer 2:
I own three 12" and an 8" (the 12" is too tall for an upper bunk) I've slept on both and they are equally comfortable. The main difference as I can tell is the 8" is thinner and has a little less give. I ordered the 12" Cal King for my own bed after trying out my kids and the mattress I replaced was only a year old. This is a great mattress especially given the price and ease of set up. FYI I am not a "little" lady and I have arthritis, back, hip, knee issues and I couldn't sleep better than I do now.

Question: Does this matares work with a box spring?
Answer: Our mattresses only require a flat and secure foundation. This includes a traditional box spring, a slatted bed frame, or even the floor-just as long as the resting area is flat and secure.

Question: Why is it infused with green tea?
Answer: It has nothing to do with aroma or masking a scent. There are antioxidant and antifungal properties in green tea that where put into the mattress to make it a healthy "environment". When you think of sweating and shedding skin cells, then laying on the mattress for 6-8 hours every night for 8-10 years, you gotta think....hum, maybe having antifungal properties are a good idea!

Question: Is there formaldehyde in it?
Answer: The components of our memory foam products are made in China, but they are Certi-PUR US certified. This means that our products are low emissions for indoor air quality. Our products are also made without formaldehyde, mercury, chlorofluorocarbons, prohibited phthalates, and PBDE flame retardants. Our products have been tested and approved for safety, durability, and performance. For more information about what this seal of approval says about the safety of our products,

Question: Will the 12" mattress accommodate a regular sheet or will I need to get deep pocket sheets?
Answer: I use regular sheets. But they are tight. Which is a really good thing, I feel. Who wants loose sheets? (Btw, I reco checking out Pinzon Hemstitch 400 thread count sheets... Not advertising, mind you: They are just the best sheets I've found on Amazon. Thick and comfy. And affordable, too. Guests comment positively on both the mattress... and the sheets!

Question: Which pillow should I buy?
Answer: This, perhaps, is the most critical question when it comes to guaranteeing a great night’s sleep. “You can buy a $4,000 mattress, but when you put a $4 pillow on top of it, you actually have a $4 mattress,” Schecter says. If you sleep on your side, a thicker pillow might be in order, while back sleepers can usually go a little thinner. But beyond that, options abound: Luxurious down pillows tend to cost a little extra, but last longer. Down alternatives, or synthetically filled pillows, are hypo-allergenic — a great choice for allergy sufferers, and they’re they’re machine-washable. Memory foam is another popular option for sleepers who want more firm support.

Schecter has three practical recommendations for pillow purchases:

First and foremost, check the return policy before you buy, and if you try a new pillow on your bed at home and it’s not perfect, take it back.
Ditto if the new pillow fails either of these two tests: When you get a new pillow (one that’s not foam), place your fingers on a corner and rub them together. The filling should feel buoyant, and should move easily against the other fibers.
If you’ve bought a natural-fill pillow, be sure to give it a good shake: “This may seem a bit weird, but you want to make sure you’re starting with a clean pillow,” he says. “Take the pillow out of the bag, hold it in your hand, and smack it. If you see a bunch of dust in the air, return it.”

Question: Can I sleep on it after 24 hours or is that too early potentially impacting the body's ability to gain its proper form?
Answer: The manufacture company recommends 24 hour free from sitting and sleeping for the best results of comfortness on their manual. It took exactly 24-48 hours to fully inflated to the dept of 10inchs. So, if I were u, I will wait until the mattress is fully expanded to 10 inches.
